Sometimes it can seem as if everyone else has a flourishing social life—and we’re the only ones not doing it right.
I’ve spent the last few months delving into the roots of this very feeling, and I’m excited to announced that my new podcast A social life, with friends will launch next Monday 27 November.
In the meantime, you can listen to the trailer to hear what’s to come, and be sure to subscribe on Apple iTunes, Spotify or wherever you like to listen to your podcasts.
Upcoming episodes will explore common questions about the relationships we have with other people—and ourselves.
How do we go about improving our social lives? How do we make new friends? How can we live with other people? How do we bring people together? How do be alone but not lonely?
So I wanted to put a question to you, too.
How’s your social life?
What questions are you pondering, or dilemmas are you facing?
If you want a space to reflect on your social life and contribute to the shape of this newsletter and podcast, feel free to delve into these ten questions I’ve composed for your social life.
Responses are anonymous, and much like the previous surveys I’ve done on subjects from heartbreak to creativity in a pandemic lockdown, it will be a way to bring real experiences to life.
I also hope to explore the themes that come up in forthcoming episodes and newsletters, so this becomes a shared endeavour.
Of course, you’re welcome to share in the comments here also. Candidly, I’m a little nervous on that front—how do you build an engaged online community from the ground up? I guess we’ll find out together!
All I know is that we’re not alone in our yearnings or tensions when it comes to the various relationships we have, and through the podcast and newsletter I hope to foster a place to reflect and discover.
I’m looking forward to sharing more with you next week, with the first episode of A social life, with friends launching Monday 27 November.
Looking forward to this as well!! Making and sustaining friendships as an adult can be so so tough
I’m looking forward to this Madeleine! Feels very timely for me as I’ve been struggling with feelings of loneliness, and struggling to make new connections. So thank you!
